| This year our May backpacking trip got delayed until July due to the extreme snowpack. Some mountain drainages broke records to the beginning of record keeping. Many were 200+% of normal. The map above shows our route in and we planned to hike around the red pin furthest south. We start at HWY 108 around 7000ft and our base camp (southern Camp pin) sat at about 8150ft. The hiking around the series of lakes at the bottom is around 9100ft. You can see the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) meandering through the area. | ||||
