We've recrossed Cascade Creek and that is the Walker river. We now must move up the hillside some and hike upstream to our safe crossing spot before we can return to our camp's side of the river. |

In this beautiful meadow was an old wood fence. It had mostly collapsed, but it appeared to be designed to keep cattle out of the meadow. We saw this sign posted on a tree near the fence. It would be cool to find the history behind it! Perhaps it is related to goods manufactured by "The Whipple Pile Manufacturing Company?" I found a reference to the Ballardvale, Massachusetts company in the 1864 Mining and Scientific Press! |
