Gem Lake August 2017

Despite Arthur bailing out on his backpacking training trip, Andra wanted to go anyway. So we packed up for the weekend and headed for the June Lake Loop.
The trail begins at over 7000 feet and we have a steep exposed climb to over 9000 feet elevation before reaching our intended camp spot at Gem Lake. On the
map above you can see our route. There is also a green pin at the top of Donohue Pass. In 2015 we also hiked up to Marie Lakes and the head waters of Rush
Creek. There is a pack station near the trailhead and this is a popular area to have horse and mule supported trips into the John Muir Wilderness.
