At the trailhead parking area we take a quick photo before putting our packs on. Dawg is fascinated by all the activity at the near by RV park.
Here you can see the over built June Lake community and just how far up we've come from the bottom. The sea of houses down there would deter me from ever wanting to live there. Well maintained road + ski resort = human infestation.

We've reached our first crossing of the old cart and rail system. It looks like they've repaired some of it since our trip in 2015.
