Glacier National Park 2014 |
|||||
In September 2014, we took a trip to Glacier National Park, but I was lazy and never posted the photos. I found them on my camera a few days ago and decided to put a few up for posterity. If you want to visit Glacier National Park solely to look at big glaciers, don't go. The Glaciers have been shrinking since the end of the Little Ice Age (1850), and look like snow patches on the mountains. If however, you want to enjoy the beautiful mountains, lakes and abundant wildlife, this a great park to visit. Above is a picture of the Grinnel Glacier taken in 1938 and again in 2009. Some glaciers in the park have shrunk so much they technically do not qualify under the official definition for a glacier. So as our solar system continues to warm, I'd suggest going elsewhere if you would like to see big glaciers. |
