CQ WW 160m Phone Contest 2001
This year I decided to participate in the CQ World Wide 160 meter Contest. For those of you who have no idea what that is, I'll explain. I'm an amateur radio operator, and this is a contest where you attempt to work as many other radio stations as you can. Stations at a greater distance generally count more than nearby stations. 160 meters is one of the most difficult frequencies to use when attempting long distance communications. One of the biggest obstacles is the shear size of the antennas required. I decided to put up a 175 ft tall vertical antenna to give me a competitive edge over the other participants.
