I always wanted to try bike camping ever since I watched a television program on the subject. I talked about doing it last year and got more motivated to actually do it this year. My plan was to bike from here to Folsom over three days the next time Andra wanted to go to Sacramento. I figured she could drive my car with the rack and pick me up for the ride home. The more I talked about it, the more she wanted to try it too. To avoid spending too much money in the event we didn't like it, I purchased a set of panniers (saddle bags) for my bike only.

The route above shows our path to California and the elevation profile is inset below. Our phones tracked our progress and total climbing elevation. At the end we had biked 154 miles with 11,030ft of climbing. I had hoped to take many more pictures, but the spectacular blue lakes looked black in bad weather. That coupled with cold temperatures reduced my photographic aspirations.
