| You can see the top of Carson Pass in the distance (the road looks like a line against the mountain). We are about half way up and the clouds refuse to break up and clear out. The steepest part is right after you turn left at the mountain. | ||

| After clearing the pass and descending down the other side, we've reached Caples Lake. This is a spectacularly blue lake and it just looks like hell in this picture. | ||
