Garbage cans every 50ft or so, and they empty them constantly. It seemed every time I threw something in one, the camp host would come over and change the liner. If I wasn't already disgusted with how my tax dollars are spent in California, this would have sealed the deal for me. Total night and day difference. The Park Service was actually out cutting the grass along the roads and in the picnic areas. Everything looked manicured as if they actually cared about the State's image. I'm sure Oregon has it's share of problems and stupidity, but when it comes to the park system, they make California look like the slums of Mexico.
Just up the road from the campground was Shell Island. This view is from the Simpson Reef Overlook. Several varieties of seals pull out of the water here.
This pair stayed away from the others and we found them swimming together on two different days.
