Jennie Lake Wilderness 2006

With summer vacation for Walt's kids rapidly coming to an end, we scheduled this trip to take Brett backpacking before he restarts school. The Jennie Lake Wilderness is located east of Fresno in the Sierra National Forest. The map below shows the area of travel. We started at the Fox Meadow trailhead, hiked the southern trail around Shell Mountain, and over Poop Out Pass to Jennie Lake.

We left on Thursday August 17th and were planning to return on the 20th after exploring the area around Jennie Lake.
Here is a 3D view of the trip. Red flags show the start and our camp spot. I drew a black arrow pointing to the start because the flag is hard to see. Brett proved to be quite a backpacker and powered over Poop Out Pass with energy to spare. We left the Fox Meadow trailhead around 2pm and topped Poop Out Pass around 4:50pm. It took us another hour to reach Jennie Lake.
