After a bite to eat and with a handicap placard from the visitor's center, we decided to drive to Mirror Lake. The Mirror Lake road is closed to vehicle traffic unless you have a placard.

The clouds are really starting to move in. Mirror Lake is often just a slight bulge in the river surrounded by sand. With the high water flows the lake has expanded to near its old size, but the rapidly moving water is anything but mirror like.

Before it started to rain we posed for a quick picture.
Knowing that my parents wouldn't be down in the valley until about 10:30am, we decided to get up early and hike to Vernal Falls. Walt and Brett had arrived late the prior night. Here along the trail is Illilouette Falls. This photo doesn't do justice to the amount of water ripping down the ravine.
