Having just passed the junction of HWY 120 and 140, we had to stop to look at the raging Merced River. With the Tuolumne River basin's snow pack at 179% of normal, the Merced River basin at 192%, and courses above 7500 ft at 210% of normal, the prior week's hot weather created thundering water flows. Mom looks in amazement at the crazy river. My mom had not been to Yosemite since I was 14 years old (26 years ago).
After crossing the Merced we briefly stopped at Bridalveil Falls. This is by far the hardest I've ever seen it run.
Dad, mom, and Andra pose for a photo in the parking lot. Just to the left of the red car, the parking lot was flooded with about two inches of water. Since we needed to make camp and check mom and dad into their hotel, we decided not to try and slosh our way to the trail to get any closer.
