Nearing the top of the switchbacks but still some distance from the lake, Andra catches us coming up the trail. |

Probably fifteen or twenty miles to the south rages one of the many lightning started fires. Andra spotted this helicopter flying overhead as we neared the top of Bear Mountain. Fortunately, the wind was blowing south most of our trip and only on the last day did it shift and blow the smoke up over us. The cable and water bucket are clearly visible. | ||
This is probably the high point of the route. The lake is nestled back in those mountains. Most of the work is behind us, but we have quite a bit further to go. | ||
