As it turns out, this is not Devil's Punchbowl. The trail skirts around this lake to the left and over the hill on the right of the photo. This pool is formed from the runoff out of Devil's Punchbowl.
We noticed this area was full of salamanders.

Whoohoo! We've reach Devil's Punchbowl and it's full of... naked people? Yes! Several hikers, two girls to the left of this frame and a guy and kid on the opposite side of the lake, all thought this lake was a clothes optional area.
