In July Andra and I had planned to take a backpacking trip in southern California. Unfortunately the 5000+ rainless lightning strikes in June changed our plans. With most regions of the State on fire, and heavy smoke clogging our lungs, we abandoned that idea. Although the area we were going to hike was not currently ablaze, the air quality was unbearable. My main focus was to get out of the State.

As many of you know Andra and I are looking for land to build a home in the forest. With this in mind we decided to explore several candidate areas in California, Idaho, and Nevada. This wasn't a true site seeing trip and therefore we didn't take many photos. The map above shows the route we took.
