All cleaned up, Andra decides to eat a dark chocolate peanut butter cup. Remember we are not crazy PCT hikers with their ultra light packs, no first aid, or anything else to assist if the shit hits the fan. We are on vacation! We started this trip with 2lbs of chocolates in my pack. I've considered buying a slightly warmer, lighter sleeping bag, but that would save me 2lbs at most. Other than that, my pack is unlikely to ever get much lighter. Meaning 55 to 75 lbs are the upper and lower limits for an eight day trip. If you like going into the woods with a washcloth dueling as your tent and sleeping bag, think carrying a Band-Aid or clean socks are unmanly - more power to you, but it sounds more like you're compensating for something to me. We never go out to prove we can live off pine needles and squirrel poop. We are out here to live it up and enjoy the scenery. If I could carry in steaks and fresh vegetables, I would, and in fact have on shorter trips. |
