Here I am untying our food from my bear line. We have never seen a bear when hiking in the high country (including this trip) in all the years we've done it. The only bears we've ever seen were in the Yosemite Valley where idiots leave food on their camp tables and the small bear when backpacking along the coast. Since I don't consider "car camping trips" I'm leaving out all the bears we've seen in Yellowstone. Although bears must be considered when storing food, I'm always more concerned about smaller animals destroying our food supply. Proper food storage is essential.
In our camp spot, someone (likely horse packers) made this neat rock table. Not once was anyone ever camping at the same lake with us - even when on the PCT. Having the wilderness to ourselves is something we relish.
Here is a close up image of Lake Harriet. The output stream is at the far end. The one we erroneously crossed to get here. There is a cascade behind me rolling in from a higher lake. The crashing sound of water put us to sleep as the cascade was only about 50 ft from our tent. (This water picture is for you Imho!)
