We have successfully re-intersected with the trail we want to follow out, although this isn't it. This is where we would have come in after nearly half a mile of wasted effort had we stayed on the trail. See the map section just below where it says "Emigrant Pass."
This is the trail we want. We head down there and then drop down the drainage to the next valley.
