As the day wears on, we reach a point where the creek slots into a narrow granite channel. We must climb steeply away from the creek as it is no longer possible to walk its shores. Dawg is super family focused. His herding and working dog traits tell him to worry about anyone that is not staying together. Here he is already turning back to make sure Andra is okay as she pauses to take a picture. "Momma, are you okay back there?" |

As we reach the top, you can see exactly why we were forced to peel away from the creek. This small waterfall was difficult to photograph from a safe location. | ||
We've reached our first base camp. The plan is to stay two nights here before climbing to the west. There are cow pies everywhere here, but the summer cows did a great job mowing the lawn for us. I built a small fire ring and have dinner started. Not a lot of pictures taken on this day, but it was a late start and a busy day, so we are just happy to relax. |
