My Tahoe is waiting for us near Lower Blue Lake and Andra's car will be left at Wolf Creek. Packs on, we pose for a photo before heading out. The weather forecast shows blue skies for the duration of our trip.
Wolf Creek merges with the East Carson River a bit down stream from here, and on wet years can be a challenge to cross. With the super dry year and our October start date, it is barely running. The fall colors are just starting to appear in the aspen trees.

We pause to enjoy the changing of the colors and look for a place for lunch.
