I sent the mighty mutt in several times to retrieve some sticks in order to cool his body temperature as we will have no shade for many hours. Between the swims and playing with other dogs, he was having a blast.

We mount up our heavy packs and continue on to Piute Pass which you can see at the far end of the canyon. This is where our physical training and fortune of living at 4800ft elevation really pays off. At about 10,800 feet the energy of flat landers would be completely drained, but we barely notice the elevation.
