The next morning after yet another pancake feeding frenzy, we return to the trail. We must hike back up over 10k to camp near Sallie Keyes Lakes. Dawg and I pose for a picture before starting the immense climb.
We will camp before reaching Seldon Pass, but will climb most of the needed elevation today. It appears Florence Lake is just around the corner - not! Florence Lake was one of our emergency escape routes. Should something go wrong, fire, injury, etc, I told Bailey we might use the trail heading to Florence Lake. I apologized in advance should she be forced to navigate the road to Florence Lake in order to retrieve us. See the Kaiser Pass Road to Florence Lake Survival Guide for more details.
It is nice to hike on soft dirt trails again.
