It is not uncommon in the high sierras to run into a gate. They are typically constructed across narrow paths to keep stock animals from moving out of one area and into another without human help. This particular gate has a narrow roundabout loop for people to pass through. Unfortunately, my pack is so big, I get stuck trying to go through. Andra had to walk up behind me and spread the timber so that I could squeeze through.

Having been freed from the menacing gate, we start looking for a new campsite. Now in the high 9s, I look forward to a hot shower.

Fire built, water boiled, and showers taken, our ragtag group of adventures relax with some hot tea at our new home.
