Arriving at Vogelsang Lake we begin to scout for a campground. The "V" in front of me is Vogelsang Pass, our destination for tomorrow.

I expected Vogelsang Lake to be particularly cold, but was surprised when I measured the temperatures in the mid 50's. I'm sure this lake freezes solid in the winter and is covered with more than 20 ft of snow. The long summer seems to have warmed it up. The mountain range near HWY 120 can no longer be seen from here. In a straight line, HWY 120 is about 6.5 miles from here, and is considerably further by trial.
