I couldn't resist this shot of the tufa towers when I noticed that bird perched on top.
Some massive tufa formations well inside the lake's shores.
While at Mono Lake we hiked to the top of the Panum Crater (not shown), to check out the amazing rock formations and obsidian. How many volcano cones do you see? If you only see two, your count is way low. The Panum Crater is the youngest in the area, having erupted some 600 years ago.
