Holy moly, who is this stunning specimen?  Why it is none other than yours truly - a.k.a. PhD Mike.  After a grueling day of taking core samples, examining ancient life forms and signing autographs, I'm caught relaxing at Grand Geyser.

Returning to reality, we have the Beauty Pool.  Note the different colors.  Green is usually somewhat cooler water (algae growing), yellow is usually hotter water (sulfur eating bacteria).  Blue very, very hot and very, very little life.

This is Giant Geyser.  Giant Geyser was dormant for many years after an energy shift in 1955.  Since then, it has slowly become active again.  During 2000, it erupted more than fifteen times.  Its spectacular eruptions last about an hour and can reach 250 feet!!
