While exploring Le Conte Falls earlier, Andra had a bit of an accident. We were trying to negotiate a steep slick water washed granite slope when Andra made the mistake of stepping on a section that was wet. She quickly lost traction and began sliding down on her butt. She accelerated quickly and traveled nearly 50ft before coming to an abrupt stop at the bottom. It was a terrifying experience. With the way her right ankle was twisted when she landed, I thought for sure her leg was broken. Fortunately she only had a small cut on her hand and some incredibly muddy pants. I washed her pants while we had lunch. Here she sports the latest in windbreaker shorts as we waited for her pants to dry.
On the way back from Waterwheel falls I snapped this pinwheel at Le Conte Falls. The water sinks into deep cracks in the granite that eventually dead end rather abruptly. This causes the water to pinwheel back on itself.
