Horsetail Falls
8/15/98 I decided to do a little hiking. I drove to twin bridges and hiked into Horsetail Falls and beyond. Below are some of the pictures I shot as I made my way into the Desolation Wilderness nature preserve.

This is a shot of horsetail falls from near HWY 50 at the beginning of my hike. The falls look pretty microscopic from here. The elevation is approximately 6100 feet. The elevation at the top of the falls is probably around 7000 feet.
Here I've arrived at the base of the falls. The hike from here is very steep and involves climbing over piles of huge granite stones.
This is a look back from near the base of the falls. Oops, where did I leave the car? Hmmm.
Here I've begun my ascent to the top. The trail isn't very well marked and many times I found myself traversing near vertical climbs. Then later I'd notice a stream of hikers off to one side, but, as has been the case so many times in my life, "I took the road less traveled and that has made all the difference."
Finally I've reached the top! This is a look at the water just before the drop.
The evidence! Yes here's the proof I was there. I got a nice young couple to take my picture at the top with the lake as a backdrop. They even got me laughing for this shot. The falls are just to the right.
This is a little inlet feeding the lake in the shot above. What a beautiful day!
Here you can see the stream feeding the lake at the top of the falls. I'm hiking up and away from the falls as I make my way to the second lake.
Here I've arrived at the second lake. We got so much snow this year there's still some left even in August!
I got some passing hikers to snap my picture at the lake before I headed back. I returned the favor by snapping one of the four of them.
