After having a refreshing day in the hotel we drove to the Inyo Craters to look around. The Inyo Craters were created about 500 years ago when water trickling down through the cracks in the rock reached a magma chamber. The resulting steam explosion created these 600 foot wide craters. No magma was released.
This is the second crater.
Here we stopped at the edge of the second crater (left of photo), to have the tripod snap a picture.
