Hmmm, dual seats.  Now that's the picture of efficiency.  Servicing two miners at a time or possibly a miner and his wife!  Okay, Andra thinks that's gross...

The next day the weather improved and we went back to Bodie to explore the rest of the town.  This is the old gas station.  I'm sure gas was a little less than two dollars a gallon back then and probably didn't come with a State 18 cent surcharge and matching 18 cent federal surcharge along with sales tax, etc, etc.

The Boone Store and Warehouse.  Erected in 1879, this building served as a general store.  It was owned by Harvey Boone, a direct descendant of Daniel Boone.  Harvey was a great horse fancier and also owned the Boone Stable and Livery business.  The siding of this building was made of five-gallon cans.  Kerosene and gasoline were hauled to Bodie from Hawthorne and Carson City in these cans, which were then cut open and used for roofing and siding.  Later, corrugated iron was used.
