Roaring Springs.  After 7 years of drought in the area, it probably should be called Dribbling Spring.  That large black area at the head of the spring is a cave.  When water conditions are normal the water shoots out of this large opening.  The wires through the picture are power cables connecting to the pump house at the base of the canyon.  Klaus told us this spring shot out of the rock and was half the size of the American River.  I don't know about you, but the American River must have shrunk since the last time I saw it.

After stopping for lunch, we began the arduous task of hiking back.  Andra takes in the sites as we reconnect with the main trail.

This is a look back up the canyon.  This is the way we came in.  Somewhere on that distant green plateau sits my car with its blessed air conditioning.
