While driving in Arizona I noticed something very odd. Signs reporting the obvious were everywhere! This sign became a familiar site. Each time the center line turned solid on your side of the road, a "No Passing Zone" sign was placed. Amazingly, after driving hundreds of miles of road, these signs never miss a line change no matter how short the changes in center lines. It made me start to wonder what manner of retards lived in Arizona that this information needed to be placed on thousands of miles of road at considerable expense to the tax payers. Isn't this basic traffic law taught to every 16 year-old would-be driver in the US? Obviously not! As we continued along our trip, we repeatedly found drivers obviously unaware of this issue and unable to read. So I decided to capture a few more of these little gems.
Here at the train station near the South Rim lodges, you are wisely warned not to stop on the railroad tracks. Why didn't I think of that? Don't forget to walk against the traffic or you might get run over by the countless scores of drivers we saw driving the wrong way up one-way streets. We even saw one mental giant mistakenly drive off the road and on to a foot path. He invented the very first five-way stop sign!! Where do all these crazy signs lead you ask?
Well, to Moron Point of course. Unfortunately, most cars here were wrecked to the right of this sign in the woods. Now, your videographer may have been inclined to edit this photo with Photoshop to change "Moran Point" into "Moron Point," but who could blame him after a week of driving with the most incompetent motorists in the lower forty-eight. If you ever decide to visit Arizona, leave your driving manual at home. Driving instructions are posted every 500 feet. Too bad the natives can't read.
Until next time, keep your eyes on the road...
