Here I am at the same spot already dripping with sweat from all the climbing.
We stopped here to grab a bite to eat. This little pond is formed by the stream to the right of the photo. The stream flows from a small, unnamed lake just behind us.
Four hours and nearly five miles later, we reach Dick's Lake. The peak in the middle of the photo is Dick's Peak 9974ft. Our current elevation is 8450ft. Shortly after arriving, while scouting a place for our camp, Andra tripped and collapsed in a heap. Her pack was so heavy she couldn't get back up. She said she felt like a turtle that got flipped on its back. I grabbed the back of her pack and lifted her to her feet. Fortunately, she was not seriously injured.
