The Yellowstone river. The canyon walls are soft material eaten away by water and acid. The once strong stone has been broken down allowing the river to cut a deep canyon. Yellow sulfur colors the sides. | ||
Looking across the canyon, I photographed one of the other lookout points. There is a short trail that leads you to the top of that very long staircase. This picture does a great job of showing the immense size of the canyon. |
