A close up of our skittish friend. |
These cacti with their beautiful flowers were everywhere. |
It took us well over five and a half hours to get in, but only three hours to get out using the easier route. In many areas, to call it a trail was an exaggeration, but the path the trail took was certainly less grueling. Having arrived safely at the car, we began the long grind down the bumpy dirt road. Andra and I decided to head north and relax in South Lake Tahoe where water can be found by turning on a faucet. Overall, I look back fondly on our adventure, but the landscape was certainly not our cup of tea. Both Andra and I like lush green pine trees and water falls. Although many see beauty here, we found it lacking. Our next trip is scheduled for late July followed by another backpacking trip in early August. In September, we will spend a week backpacking in the backcountry of Yosemite. Please stay tuned for all the pictures and crazy stories to come. -Mike & Andra. |
