This is a 2 second exposure. The image is still surprisingly crisp with little motion blur.

It is now 11:41pm PST. This image at a 4 second exposure is starting to show motion blur. Notice how far the faint blue star moved at the upper left.

The total eclipse phase was to last 72 minutes. This photo at 12:22am PST is near dead center of that window. At a 4 second exposure there is considerable motion blur as noted by the stars in the frame. This eclipse was expected to be particularly dark as two volcanic eruptions had recently added ash to the atmosphere's normal dust and smog.
