In contrast to prior drought years, ponds were full and meadows sopping wet. It still made a big difference in terms of mosquitoes if we moved away from the major meadows.

We've arrived at Wood Lake after taking a trail that was marked "Intermittently Used" on my map. In total we took three trails marked that way and one trail that didn't even appear on the Tom Harrison map (I added a dotted line on the scanned map you saw on the contents page for the missing trail). Three truly were rarely used trails; however, this one was clearly mismarked.
