Looking downstream from the bridge. Now we can start searching for a campsite.

We hiked a bit farther than I had expected and found a nice camp spot near a stream. As you can see on the map, we are now camped on the PCT. The PCT is a very busy trail and unfortunately backpacker trash is everywhere. Unlike this trip, we typically backpack at odd times of the year when many wouldn't even consider it. We also tend to pick some routes so tough they are rated as "butt kickers," all in an attempt to get away from people. Ever wondered why? This fall we hope to get a puppy. I can then get one of those "The more I get to know people, the more I like my dog" bumper stickers.

This waterfall was just a couple hundred feet from our camp. We have temporarily left the Emigrant Wilderness and entered the Hoover Wilderness. Fires are currently banned in the Hoover Wilderness, but that didn't seem to deter any of the other campers in our general area. In fact, the fire ring we camped next to still had hot coals in it from the previous occupant. If Smokey Bear were real, he'd be turning over in his grave.
