We exchange places and Andra takes a photo of me standing next to one of the black information signs. Yes, the signs are painted black. Probably the park service figures that black would be easier to see than other colors. I'm sure a florescent orange wouldn't be nearly as easy to find and avoid tripping over than flat black.
