Our first look at Twin Lakes. It seems fairly close, but in reality it is still more than 3 miles away. This section of the trail has no shade, making it a very tiring march. Once we reached the car, we dropped Andra off at the hotel, and I drove Dave down to his truck. Shortly thereafter, we were all showered and heading to dinner at a local diner. Surprisingly, none of us ordered dehydrated mush for dinner. In fact, we all ordered filet mignon's with all the fixings and topped it off with dessert! Backpacking has a tendancy to remind me how important good friends are and how lucky I am to have all the things I do. Who invented running water anyway? |

Speaking of being thankful for what we have, Andra and I drove through Lake Tahoe on the way back. We stopped to eat and drive through the burn area. This photo shows the hillside primarily involved in the fire. | ||
As we drove down the road, I just had Andra snap pictures out the window. Here you see the remains of a house, Jeep, and boat (in front of the Jeep). |
