After a good nights rest, we set out to day hike over to Peeler Lake. This lake is just beautiful. |

We spent several hours here killing the pesky flies and feeding them to the trout. The trout seemed to enjoy it and so did we. |

On the way over to Peeler, we noticed a trout trapped in the lake's exit stream. The dry conditions this year had eliminated the flow and this unlucky guy got stuck between two high spots in the creek. After a while at Peeler, Andra wanted to launch a rescue mission to relocate him. With a gallon ZipLock bag from my emergency fish saving kit, we headed back along the trail towards camp. Unfortunately, the pool he was in had no shade, and he died before we arrived. Undeterred, we picked him up anyway and brought him upstream to the lake. After twenty minutes of mouth to fish lip resuscitation, he was laid to rest at the bottom of Peeler Lake. Please, a moment of silence... |
