It is a shame we didn't take any pictures of the area where we turned around. The path to the lake got incredibly steep and just wasn't worth trying to continue. In addition, the snow depth was high and I was occasionally postholing through. This time I estimate we were only 400ft short of the lake shore. It was very hard to give up that close to the goal, but safety concerns prevail. Here we are already heading back to camp.

Nearly down off the snow, we stopped for a photo. You can see our valley in the distance.

The next morning it was time to move camps, but before we left, I thought we should take a few photos in camp. This trip's title says it all for this picture. I'm 6'2" and flatfooted my outstretched hand reaches to 8'. That should tell an outdoorsman all they need to know about this photo. Since few outdoorsman are on my mailing list, well, you'll just have to take a wild guess that will be completely wrong. :)
