When we first started backpacking together decades ago, I used to pack some surprise food for the GF that I'd pop out when she'd least expect it. This prompted said GF to start getting snoopy, and eventually I gave up trying to hide something special. I thought about resurrecting that tradition this trip, but the night before, the packing was becoming too much of a pain and I revealed the food so it could go into Andra's pack. At the bottom of the frame, you see a bag of frozen mixed vegetables and corn. It was kept mostly frozen wrapped in a down jacket. Here I am using a few kabob skewers to make a grill for the main course.

Hey papa, where's my food?

The main course is grilling away. With some butter I brought for the "pamcakes," those vegetables are going to complement the juicy steak. We deserve this high-end dinner after the long walk and surviving the rain and hail storm!
