As we head along the high plateau, the rain clouds start pushing in to the area. It is early and the temperatures are cool.

Oh no! I've put too much weight in one side of Dawg's pack and he's collapsed!

Or more likely he found a snow patch to play in...

You can hear me in the background tell him the fun is over and we must continue. His response is immediate.

In this video, Andra makes one of the classic blunders. The most famous is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this..." When in the woods, you are a buddy system (like diving). We must back each other up at all times. When crossing a river, you do it one at a time and make sure the other person is ready, looking at you, and free of gear before starting.

This is an elevated water crossing on a log. I'm taking the packs across first and the video starts with me taking the second (Andra's) pack across. When I reach the other side, my back is turned and I still have her pack on as she starts across. If she had fallen in from the first log crossing, I would not even be able to see her. It will waste precious seconds/minutes in a rescue if you have to start by searching for the person.
