As we head along the high plateau, the rain clouds start pushing in to the area. It is early and the temperatures are cool. |

Oh no! I've put too much weight in one side of Dawg's pack and he's collapsed! | ||
Or more likely he found a snow patch to play in... You can hear me in the background tell him the fun is over and we must continue. His response is immediate. |

In this video, Andra makes one of the classic blunders. The most famous is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this..." When in the woods, you are a buddy system (like diving). We must back each other up at all times. When crossing a river, you do it one at a time and make sure the other person is ready, looking at you, and free of gear before starting. This is an elevated water crossing on a log. I'm taking the packs across first and the video starts with me taking the second (Andra's) pack across. When I reach the other side, my back is turned and I still have her pack on as she starts across. If she had fallen in from the first log crossing, I would not even be able to see her. It will waste precious seconds/minutes in a rescue if you have to start by searching for the person. |
