The dessert of champions! All three of us can agree that this is a primo backpacking dessert!
In the evening we retire to the tent where Andra continues her chess studies. Around Christmas, Andra asked me to teach her to play chess this year. She has made amazing progress in just a few months. I'm totally impressed and she would be too if she didn't constantly compare herself to someone that played like a rabid dog in his youth - including in competitive local and national events. I can honestly say, this is the first time we have ever taken a book backpacking, and the first time I have ever brought a chess set (by request). I've created a monster!

The next morning as I cook up our blueberry pancakes, Andra snaps a photo of the process. Yes, that is butter melting onto the top of it!

While sitting around camp, Dawg often finds some nook to sit. Here he walked into the bushes, dug out a spot for perfect comfort, all the while stepping on and around that little pine tree. Somehow it didn't dawn on him that the tree wasn't going to allow for proper relaxation. Regardless, he finished making the spot just right, and then spun around and sat down. The tree was right in his face. I had to laugh and break out the phone for a quick picture. He only sat there with that small tree in his face for a few seconds before abandoning the spot.
