From her spot in the shade, she photographs the trail.
After more than 40 minutes of intense climbing in the baking sun, we had the benefit of sipping water en route; however, there is no water in sight and Dawg must also drink. At 10k, with my massive pack weight and rubbery tired legs, I can't tell you just how much effort it took to kneel to ground level so that he could drink from my water supply, but I can tell you it was a herculean effort to stand back up afterwards. This is why I carry a 3 liter (100oz) bladder. Dawg's care is always foremost on my mind. He is quite skilled drinking out of my hydration pack, and a wet knee is a small price to pay for his safety.
