As we walked down the trail he watched us carefully from a 100+ feet away. Dawg was not a happy camper and was posturing, growling, etc as we passed. You might think 55lb dog, 200lb+ bear, why is the bear so keen on staying away? Simple, dogs work as a team. Half a dozen wolves versus big angry bear, bet on the wolves. In this case, 55lb dog, 200lb owner carrying a sidearm among other things, and curiously watching us leave was the bears best move. |

We warned a few other people headed the opposite way about the bear and to control their dogs, but I was most interested in lunch! |
