In a normal snow year and especially later in the summer, this would be a tiny stream you'd just step over. As we continued south and gained elevation, the streams got harder and harder to step over.

That is the West Walker River down there. This section is an exceptionally narrow deep channel. The amount of water ripping through is staggering.

It may not look so impressive from way up here, but that first photo you saw of it while I was standing on the foot bridge should tell you just how much water is compressed between the two narrow rock banks in this image.
